428 Provincial tax and credits
The Ontario Senior Homeowners' Property Tax Grant has not been sent to my client, even though he applied for it by ticking Box 6113 of the ON 479 form. Why is that?In versions prior to v12.20, the information with respect to the application for the 2009 Ontario Senior Homeowners' Property Tax Grant (OSHPTG) was not transmitted electronically, nor included in the bar code when the taxpayer had no Ontario credits reported on line 479 of the federal jacket.Possibly affected by this situation are the taxpayers aged 64 or older on December 31, 2008, who were not eligible for the Property Tax Credit due to their income. That is, for single seniors paying $2,000 in Property Taxes, an income between $45,000 and $50,000. In the case of senior couples paying $2,000 in Property Taxes, this means combined incomes between $45,000 and $60,000. Use the filter below (as is) in order to get a list of clients who could have been affected by this situation.
To create a filter, go to the Tools menu and select the option Filter the client list. Once you have selected the filter, click Apply filter and select Filter using the individual list. You will then get a list of clients that may have been affected. The last step is to access the files and look at the ON 479 form of the taxpayers. If there is no X next to the field 6113, the taxpayer is not entitled to the OSHPTG and therefore he/she was not affected by this situation. On the other hand, if there is an X next to the field 6113, follow the steps below:
Please find attached to this form the ON 479 form with field 6113 being ticked. The taxpayer is applying for the Ontario Credits and Senior Homeowners' Property Tax Grant (the application was not filed originally). 2) Calculate the tax return 3) Print the T1-ADJ (T1 Adjustment Request) and ON 479 forms 4) Mail the forms to the CRA. |
